Working In Starbucks

The empty posting area and the half-empty coffee
showed that working in Starbucks isn't as promising as it suppose to be.

Yes, the title of my post had nothing to do with the assignment given by Miss Mimi, but after few hours staring at the empty posting area in my room, I finally decide to get out of the house and go somewhere that I could work productively. So I bathed, put on clothes and drove to Carrefour and got myself a coffee and started working in Starbucks.

I would be telling a lie if I said that I started working instantly when I arrived here, (my half-empty coffee proved it) after facebooking and other unrelated-internet browsing, I still have no clue on how I'm going to complete this assignment (and I have promised my friend that I would accompany her for dinner and my lap top clock is showing 8:54)
This is the place that I seldom come to do my job whenever I don't feel like working from home and no, the American family has nothing to do with this post but they are rather in they way when i want to take this picture.

Honestly, the title isn't that hard, I don't need encyclopedia nor a reference books from the library but to write about myself, but I prefer if someone would ask you what he/she wants to know about you and go from there. The question that lingered in my head whenever I'm asked to tell some one, be it a lecturer, an superior or a friend is, how do you know that you have spilled too much about yourself and don't make your reader falls asleep out of boredom? So if you fall asleep in the middle of this post, go and do something else and come again later.

Here are my basic information, people call me Sidek even though my real name is Mohd Siddek Arif Saleh. I'm 27 years old this year and I come from a family of seven including my brother-in-law. This year, my family is expecting a new another member; my sister's baby. I'm the second sons of four siblings; my elder sister, Hanim is 2 years older than me. My younger sister, Suraya, is one year younger than me and Suffian, the youngest of all is 25 years old this year. My father, Saleh is an ex-KTMB staff and my mother is a full-time housewife and part time business women. She has a nasi lemak stall near my house and after my father's retirement, he helps her with her stall.

I spent my childhood in Subang Jaya, attending my primary school in Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Sri Subang Jaya and later in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Subang Jaya. After my SPM, I was offered a place in UiTM to further my study in Diploma in Science. I completed my Diploma in Science back in 2003.

After my Diploma, I managed to get a place in the same Faculty (Faculty of Applied Science UiTM) to pursue my first degree in Applied Chemistry, to be honest, the only reason why I took the course is simply because all of my friend was going to further their studies. I wasn't the kind that easily influence usually but I think, I was having a quarter life crisis. I was tormented between pleasing myself and my parents who always wanted me to at least graduated with Bachelor's Degree.

Because I didn't really want to do Applied Chem, I applied for place in UM and decided to take Biotechnology; yet another Science Course which I later realize, that I'm not a science type of guy. After attending UM's Science School for two semesters, I couldn't wait any longer than to quit my study until I find out what I really want to do.

I have learned that in live, there are time when you made the wrong decision and what more important is, you are never to late to make it to what ever wrong move that you had made.

In Subang Jaya, I have discovered a group of friend who has become really close to each other. Two of them are my own siblings; Suraya and Suffian. During my free time, I love hanging out with my friends over some coffee; yes Starbucks and also some local mamak's place. Besides that, whenever we have free time, we do go for karaoke, movies, makan,

I started working since I departed from UM. Through my working experience, I discover my personal liking and what I'm best at; I love working with people and learn more about their behavior, therefore, after thinking over and over again, I decided to continue my study in Public Relation. This is simply because, if I were to work, I wanted to influence the Public with good course that I will represent.

When I was offered a place in Interpersonal Communication, I was reluctant to pursue my degree simply because I always wanted to do Public Relation but I still remember my promise I made to myself. "No matter how old I am, I will never stop learning." and that's why this blog is named, Warga Kelas Ke-2.

According to Wikipedia, Second-class citizen is an informal term used to describe a person who is systematically discriminated against within a state or other political jurisdiction, despite their nominal status as a citizen or legal resident there.

Warga Kelas Ke-2 (The second class citizen) it currently my alter ego. I want to instill that phrase in me because I want to be always reminded that I'm not on the first class. For me, if you always made realize of where you are and where you come from, one can never diverted from the right path.
Warga Kelas Ke-2 is simply my conscience to be a better me.

I think I've written a lot about myself, therefore I'm going to end here and hope to write more in future.

  1. Interesting! At first, you seem to have lost your way and indecisive of what you want to do and whom you want to be. It’s proven, experience is the best teacher and you’ve learned from that, which makes you realize what you want to do in life. My sincere advice is, don’t duplicate or follows what other people may do. It is you, yourself who knows what you best at. I wish you good luck and see you at the top! (zig ziglar)
